What are the shortcomings of LED lighting technology?

The power of a single LED is low. In order to obtain high power, multiple parallel uses are required, such as car taillights, and a single high-power LED is expensive. Another fatal shortcoming of LED, low color rendering index! The color of Lamps displayed under LED irradiation is not as real as that of incandescent lamps, which is a technical problem to be analyzed from the perspective of spectral division. Another disadvantage of LED lighting is light spot. Due to the defects in the manufacturing process of white LED itself and the matching error with reflective cup or lens, it is easy to cause yellow circle problem. The current disadvantages of semiconductor lighting are mainly in the following two aspects: 1. The price of high-power LED is relatively high. At present, the market price of a 1 watt high-power white LED is about ten to dozens of times that of a traditional light source. 2. High-power LED is used to form commercial high-intensity gas discharge lamps with low luminous efficiency of more than 3 watts and low luminous efficiency of more than 100 lumens per watt, it is also lower than the rare earth tricolor fluorescent lamp with more than 60 lumens per watt. It is said that semiconductor lighting saves electricity and energy, which is actually only established within a small power range. Compared with the existing high-efficiency light source, the current technology of using semiconductor light source as a high-power lighting fixture will not save much electric energy, on the contrary, the initial investment cost is very high. Another problem with low luminous efficiency is that the input electric energy is converted into heat energy in large quantities. To say that the luminous tube is a cold light source only means that the luminous body itself is not a hot body, however, the resistance heat generated by large current on the semiconductor material will still cause the light-emitting tube to generate a higher temperature, while the light-emitting diode made of semiconductor material is not resistant to high temperature, and overheating will greatly reduce its service life, the heat dissipation of the radiator increases the volume of the lamp, making the advantages of small volume and light weight of the semiconductor light source disappear. According to the above analysis, it can be seen that in terms of luminous efficiency and price level, it is not easy for semiconductor light sources to really enter the general lighting field to replace traditional light sources in a short period of time. To solve these problems, the luminous efficiency of luminous tubes needs to be greatly improved and the production cost needs to be greatly reduced. However, under the current state of technology, the development of semiconductor lighting industry has taken advantage of its advantages and avoided its disadvantages, and has actively developed in the direction of advantages, thus promoting its technological progress and maturity of production technology, the era of semiconductor lighting can come early.
