Sydney installs the first batch of smart light poles online, free of charge for electric vehicles
According to an Australian media report on March 12, starting this week, the central and western regions of Sydney, Australia will begin trialing a new technology-the use of smart street light poles to charge electric vehicles. At present, the first batch of 20 smart street light poles have been installed in Blacktown, Sydney, which can charge electric vehicles for free.
The smart street light pole was designed, produced and installed by the Australian charging network provider JET Charge and Ene.Hub. The cost of each street light pole is about 30,000 US dollars, and the charging rate is the same as that of a standard household charging pile. In addition to providing lighting and charging functions, smart street light poles are also equipped with surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi hotspots. In addition, it is expected that more smart street light poles will be put into use in Black Town and Canada Bay in western Sydney.
Although charging using smart street light poles is not the fastest way to charge, this technology still provides another way to charge electric vehicles and allows people to foresee the future of on-road charging.
Jet Charge CEO Tim Washington said at the Nissan Future Summit held last week: “At present, charging through smart street light poles is free. Consumers may pay for it in the future, but There is no specific pricing model yet.'
