Shanghai accelerates 5G to make smart light poles come soon

Recently, the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government issued the 'Implementation Opinions on Accelerating the Construction and Application of 5G Networks in the City' (hereinafter referred to as the 'Implementation Opinions'), which clearly combines the access of overhead lines to the ground and the renovation of poles, and the use of urban public resources such as street light poles to build 5G For miniaturized base stations, the 'Implementation Opinions' will come into effect on July 10, 2019. This move will speed up the development and construction of domestic 5G smart light poles.

　　 The 'Implementation Opinions' focus on the construction of a new generation of information infrastructure led by 5G, accelerate the promotion of 5G scale deployment, and adopt 'scientific planning, intensive construction'Three basic principles to achieve its development goals: 10,000 5G base stations will be built in 2019, 20,000 5G base stations will be built in 2020, and 30,000 5G base stations will be built in 2021.

　　 The 'Implementation Opinions' also clarified eight major tasks:

　　 (1) Preparation of layout plan;

　　 (2) Make a construction plan;

　　 (3) Do a good job in application promotion;

　　 (4) Build a 5G demonstration area;

　　 (5) Promote industrial agglomeration;

　　 (6) Strengthen supporting guarantees;

　　 (7) Create a harmonious environment;

　　 (8) Strengthen publicity and promotion.

　　 Among them, each task has related responsible units. For example, in the sixth task of strengthening supporting guarantees:

　　 Promote the openness and sharing of public facilities, combine overhead lines into the ground and renovate poles, and use urban public resources such as streetlight poles, viaducts, and gantry to build 5G miniaturized base stations. Offices of government departments, state-owned enterprises and institutions, as well as management units of public places such as airports, subways, and transportation hubs, will fully open up site resources.
