However, Panasonic will continue to engage in the research and development and production of lighting equipment in Indonesia, but will dismiss about 780 of the local 130 employees. Panasonic has been producing fluorescent lamps in Indonesia since 1997, and most of the products are exported to Japan. However, Panasonic currently plans to replace all lighting equipment sold in Japan with LED products by 2018. Panasonic plans to strengthen overseas sales, and Indonesia is seen as an important market as China and India.
