Since January 1, 2014, the United States has banned the production and sale of 40-watt and 60-watt incandescent bulbs. However, before the ban came into effect, many American families had already stocked many traditional bulbs of this type, therefore, the following 75-watt and 100-watt traditional bulbs will also become part of the ban. Driven by federal standards and the improvement of general lighting technology, the reliability of bulbs is increased and the service life is also increasing. As the efficiency is getting better and better, the power consumption of general residential lighting is also gradually decreasing. Therefore, although the price of the initial purchase of LED bulbs is higher, due to the high efficiency of LED bulbs, compared with traditional bulbs, it can greatly save expenses. Even so, most American families still believe that if the price of replacing 40-watt or 60-watt incandescent lamps with LED bulbs is too high, many families will buy daylight bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs, however, the US Energy Information Administration estimates that this trend will change by 2020, when the prices of LED and incandescent bulbs will be very close. The US Energy Information Administration believes that by 2020, the efficiency of LED bulbs will reach more than 150 lumens per watt, compared with the 16 lumens per watt output of traditional 60 watt incandescent lamps, almost 10 times higher.
