How can LED filament lamps gain a firm foothold in the US market?

Since January 1 this year, all incandescent lamps have been banned in the United States. This will mean that the penetration rate of LED lighting in the United States will be further increased. LED filament lamps, known as incandescent lamp substitutes in the market, also smell the market opportunities. In 2014, whether in various lighting exhibitions or related seminars, LED filament lamps undoubtedly became a hot word in the industry discussion. It quickly opened the doors of Europe, South America and other countries and regions with a series of advantages such as 360 light, energy saving and environmental protection, and high luminous efficiency. However, although there are many manufacturers involved in LED filament lamps now, no enterprise has ever been able to knock on the door of the US market. Why? The US market has not yet fully opened, mainly because the UL certification for LED filament lamps has not yet passed. Dai Jian, chairman of Yapur lighting, said in an exclusive interview with the editor of China LED network that Yapur has passed FCC certification, UL certification and Energy Star certification are also being prepared, and it is believed that the US market will be opened soon. According to Xie Zhenhua, technical manager of lighting products of SGS Consumer Electronics Division, UL certification is not a mandatory certification for LED lamps to enter the US market. However, it is a certification recognized by consumers. Through this certification, the acceptance of products is high. An industry insider, who asked not to be named, told the editor of China's LED network that the internal power supply of LED filament lamps on the market currently adopts the method of resistance, capacitance and voltage reduction, this method is impossible to pass the US safety certification. Wang Peng, deputy general manager of Baishi Optoelectronics, said that the problem raised by the above-mentioned industry insiders is a common problem in the small subdivision of LED filament lamps. Because the LED filament and LED filament lamp companies were separated before, many finished products were turned by incandescent lamp companies, and they did not know much about power supply, therefore, there are many power supplies with resistance and capacitance on the market, and the price is relatively low. According to Wang Peng, there are currently three types of power supplies used for LED filament lamps: Resistance-capacitance Buck, switching power supply, and constant current source. If it is aimed at the US market, or some countries and regions with strict requirements, the method of blocking and lowering blood pressure is not feasible, and only the latter two can be adopted. We adopt the method of constant current source. Dai Jian said that the current price war in the market is fierce, and Yapur has adjusted its strategy and its products are developing at two levels. The price will be as low as possible. The power supply used for LED filament lamps exported to Europe, America, Japan and other places is a constant current source. According to Wang Peng, the LED filament lamp has to face two major problems to pass the UL certification in the United States: First, the lamp will be extinguished after the lamp is broken; Second, the glass shell cannot be broken into sheets and can only be broken into pieces to avoid harm to the human body. This problem can be dealt with on the power supply, and we have already solved it. Second, we are still discussing how incandescent lamps were handled before. Wang Peng told the editor of China LED network that UL certification will confirm the products of Baishi for the second time in the near future. As for the problem that the glass shell cannot be broken into sheets and can only be broken into final shapes, Dai Jian said that the LED filament lamp of Yapur has added a layer of film to the outside of the lamp, just like car glass, broken glass will be wrapped in plastic film. This method will not affect the light transmittance and light efficiency of the LED filament lamp, and no difference can be detected visually. We will get the UL Certificate in two months. Dai Jian said. In addition to UL certification, in order to better explore the US market, some companies are also doing Energy Star and other related certification. The Energy Star website recently revealed that many retailers have given priority to promoting energy star LED bulb lamps because they want to bring consumers a lighting experience. As a government-supported certification, the Energy Star label indicates that the bulb has passed independent certification and has undergone numerous tests to ensure performance, achieving high brightness and matching the light distribution of traditional bulbs. We are already doing energy star. The total time is 18 months. We have been doing it for 5 months. This will definitely pass. It is only a matter of time. Dai Jian said that after LED filament lamps pass through energy star, enterprises can get corresponding subsidies, which is very beneficial to opening up the US market. Wang Peng told the editor of China LED network that we are cooperating with two mainstream distributors in the United States.
