Evaluation of the impact of the strong earthquake in Japan on the semiconductor industry

Assessing the impact of a strong earthquake in Japan on the semiconductor industry. After a strong earthquake on the scale of Japan occurred, IHSiSuppli put forward a series of data pointing out that the semiconductor industry will not be damaged. Production will be hindered; although panel makers are not directly affected, the production capacity of LCD panels and related components has been severely affected. The following are statistics and impact assessments conducted by IHS: According to previous estimates by iSuppli, Japan’s annual electronic equipment production profits account for .% of the world, including computers, consumer electronic equipment and communication equipment. The value of electronic equipment produced in Japan reached US$100 million in the same period, while the world's only US$100 million in the same period. Japan's annual consumer electronics profit accounted for .% of the world; data processing profit accounted for .%. Japan is the world’s largest semiconductor producer in 2010; chip companies that set up their headquarters in Japan have a profit of US$100 million, accounting for .% of the world’s share. IHS pointed out that the earthquake will not cause serious damage to Japanese semiconductor production equipment, but supply chain disruption is inevitable; semiconductor companies will face difficulties such as difficulty in obtaining raw materials, unable to deliver and deliver. According to IHS iSuppli's previous estimates, this will hinder Japanese semiconductor output in the coming weeks. In terms of wafer production process, Japan's DRAM production accounts for% of the global supply, and the major manufacturers-Micron (MU-US) and Elpida (-JP) of the United States have not been directly affected. Japan’s global market share of NAND flash memory reaches %, mainly concentrated in Toshiba (-JP). In terms of global semiconductor production, the number of companies headquartered in Japan each year ranks third; the Asia-Pacific region outside of Japan ranks first, the Americas rank second, and Europe, the Middle East and Africa rank fourth. Among all semiconductor companies, Japan accounts for one. In the year, the global output value of large-size LCD panels (above inches) was US$100 million, and Japan accounted for .%; Japan also accounted for% of global LCD TV panel production capacity. Many high panel factories are located in Japan, including the world's only Sharp (SHARP) generation factory. IHS iSuppli's Japanese research department estimates that this Sharp plant was not directly affected; only one seat of all panel factories was within the range of seismic waves. However, the most important impact may come from the production of LCD panel components. Japan is the world's most important producer of panel parts, including glass, color filters, polarizers, cold cathode tubes and LEDs.
