College students invent energy-saving smart street lights

At night, the rows of street lights on the side of the road will light up on time. While providing illumination for pedestrians and vehicles, they also dress up the night scenes of the cities. In order to save energy, several students from Hunan Agricultural University played their whimsical ideas and invented smart street lights that not only calculate the speed of pedestrians and vehicles by themselves, but also automatically adjust the brightness to achieve greater energy saving. This work won the second prize of the 3rd National University Student Environmental Ecological Technology Innovation Competition in September and October this year, and the Excellent Team Award of the 4th Hunan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.

Guo Qing said that unlike ordinary street lights, this street light can sense whether pedestrians or vehicles are approaching through radar and react. 'It will gradually become brighter after sensing an object approaching, and each street light is connected to a network.'

When you are 2 meters away from the street light, the corresponding street light will increase to the brightest brightness. 'It can be adjusted at the distance, and objects within 80 yards per hour can be sensed.'
