German scientists say energy-saving lamps can cause cancer

German scientists claim that energy-saving lamps cause cancer. The British 'Daily Express' website quoted an independent research report conducted in Germany. German scientists found that CFL energy-saving bulbs, in addition to mercury content, originally released a variety of carcinogenic chemicals during use. It includes phenol (Phenol), and will release naphthalene and styrene through the heat and vapor generated during the lighting process**. German scientists called on the public to stop using it. Phenol is a kind of chemical raw material, which is often used as a solvent for manufacturing industry. According to Ming Pao quoting Cheng Liming, an associate professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering, City University of Hong Kong, the manufacturer wants mercury and other luminescent substances to be firmly coated on the glass surface of the energy-saving lamp. It contains phenolic ingredients, but it is not completely volatilized during the manufacturing process, and it may remain in the bulb. The German scientists who conducted the research suggested that energy-saving lamps should be stopped or minimized, and the head should be avoided in particular. For example, do not use energy-saving lamps as night lights for children, or headlights for reading before going to bed, etc. Prolonged and close contact with energy-saving lamps will increase the risk of cancer. However, the British environmental authorities still insist that energy-saving lamps are safe, but the British government also reminds the public that if the energy-saving lamps are accidentally broken, they should maintain indoor air circulation for at least minutes, and wear rubber gloves when cleaning debris, and plastic bags should be used at the same time. Seal the debris before discarding. The Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department said that it would understand the relevant reports, but did not explain whether it would test the energy-saving lamps sold on the market. China has also vigorously promoted the use of energy-saving lamps since the beginning of the year, and has now become the largest energy-saving lamp producer. The energy-saving lamps produced in Guzhen Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong have accounted for more than% of global production. However, the uneven product quality has also caused public concern. Inferior energy-saving lamps have excessive harmful substances and are likely to cause cancer. According to Wang Qianhu, Assistant Secretary-General of the China Consumers Association and Director of the China Consumers Association, *In the past five years, many brands of energy-saving lamps consumed in the market have been tested, and only one brand has been tested for three consecutive times that meets the standard.
