Is it better to use lithium batteries or gel batteries for solar street lights?

Recently another customer asked me whether solar street lights should use lithium batteries or gel batteries? In fact, there is no absolute certainty on this issue. Let's take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of each.

One, the advantages of lithium batteries
Lithium batteries have better average voltage, higher depth of discharge, and higher energy density. In other words, lithium batteries of the same size and gel batteries have more energy. The charging speed is faster, and the installation of lithium battery solar street lights is simpler and more convenient, and there is no need to dig pits to bury the batteries, which is more green and environmentally friendly.

Two, the disadvantages of lithium batteries
The safety and stability are not as good as gel batteries, and their cost is more expensive than gel batteries. They are prone to damage in low-temperature weather in the north and are greatly affected by temperature. Therefore, the north is not suitable for installing solar street lights with lithium batteries.

Three, the advantages of gel batteries
The price of colloidal batteries is cheaper and more acceptable to the public, and colloidal batteries are old technology, with stronger stability and more cycles, so the service life is longer than that of lithium batteries.

Four, the shortcomings of gel batteries
Low energy density, low depth of discharge, slow charging, high weight, inconvenient installation, maintenance and after-sales service, etc.

Although lithium batteries have many advantages, there are not many lithium battery solar street lights in the market. People may not be assured of their technology, but lithium battery technology has actually been developed for many years. Although there are still flaws, the southern region is still worthwhile in use.
