A new opportunity for smart street lights: car charging piles

In our country, in 2015, the State Council issued the 'Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure.' The 'Opinions' pointed out that in principle, new residential parking spaces should be 100% built with charging facilities or reserved for construction and installation conditions, and for large public buildings with parking lots and social public parking lots for charging facilities or reserved for construction and installation The proportion of parking spaces is not less than 10%, and at least one public charging station should be built for every 2,000 electric vehicles. After the 'Opinions' was promulgated, many provinces and cities across the country began to implement them one after another. For example, Jiangxi, Shandong, Tianjin, Hainan, Chongqing, Nanjing and other places have made regulations and arrangements for charging, charging facility construction, and subsidies.

In addition, the recent release of new standards such as the 'Notice on the Reform and Upgrade of the New National Standard for Charging Pile' may bring new opportunities for the development of smart street lights.

At present, car charging piles are generally favored by the industry. Due to practical problems such as limited land resources, shortage of parking spaces, and high investment costs, the large-scale popularization of urban public charging piles has encountered difficulties. However, the conversion of existing power sources and street lights of parking spaces into charging piles eliminates the need for new public resource construction. Charging piles, minus the construction of pipelines, greatly reduce the overall cost of construction. Therefore, the street lamp charging pile is expected to become an important breakthrough to solve the charging problem. At present, intelligent street light poles developed by electronics that combine charging piles, video surveillance, WiFi networks, environmental monitoring and other functions, and integrate information technologies such as the Internet of Things, mobile Internet, and big data have been piloted in many places.
